BONES, DISEASES OF Calcarea fluorica Hard, rough, corrugated elevations on bones, bruises of bones ; caries, leading to the formation of pelvic abscesses, affections of nasal bones, caries from syphilis or abuse of Mercury. Osseous tumors, enlargement of bones, with or without caries. Hecla lava. Osteomata of spongy nature are greatly improved and cured by this remedy. Swelling of bones of jaw after extraction of teeth with violent pains. Caries of maxillary bones Calcarea phosphorica It has an action at the places where the bones form a suture or joint ; it is also useful to favor the uniting of fractures, hastening the formation of callus. Non-union of fractures when due to impaired nutrition. In the lower potencies it stimulates the formation of callus. Rickets. Symphytum for injuries of bone where there is an irritability at the point of fracture, nervous in origin. Ruta graveolens in fractures renders callus to form. Especially useful where non-union results, because of deficient callus. Sulphur. Rickets, defective assimilation, great appetite, but poorly nourished. Fluoric acid It produces caries of the long bones, with thin and excoriating discharges, relieved by cold applications. Dental fistulae and bone felons, with offensive discharges. Dental fistula; caries of the bone, especially of the long bones, with thin excoriating discharges relieved by cold applications. Caries of temporal bones and mastoid processes. The pains are burning and intermittent, and the discharge is thin and acrid. Caries from syphilis or mercury. It follows Silicea well. Silicea is worse from cold, Flouric acid better. Silicea, Flouric acid and Calcarea flourica are useful in jaw diseases. Silicea In scrofulous children whose bones are curved, spinal curvature ; Potts' disease ; fistulous tracks running to diseased bone. Curvature of bones, rickets; here it is often the clearly indicated remedy; there is present offensive sweat. Hip-joint disease. Caries after inflammation, worse from cold. Potts disease. It is a slow acting remedy. Calcarea carbonica. Caries of the vertebra. Curvature of the spine. Rickets, sour sweat. Phosphoric acid. Hip disease and caries of the spine. Sensation in the bone as if scraped with a knife. It is a remedy which corresponds to the extreme debility found in rickets, and is a valuable remedy in that affection. Phosphorus is useful in necrosis, especially of the lower jaw ; also caries. Drugs useful in Caries: Platina mur., Caries of the tarsus ; Angustura, especially of the long bones ; Strontiana carbonica, of the femur ; Aurum, cranial bones and bones of nose and palate after abuse of Mercury ; pains aggravated by touch ; burning pains, worse at night ; excessively fetid discharges. Symphytum is useful for injuries of the bones. Stillingia is useful in Syphilitic affections of the long bones.
