VARICOSE VEINS
Our lifestyle
has changed a great deal.
We all are in haste; we don't like to walk a few meters to purchase household
goods instead we use scooter/motorbikes/cars/rickshaws or other means.
All the family members even children don't go to parks or outdoor playing they
sit long time watching TV and eating fast food.
Comfortable & sedentary lifestyle, modern
fashion, special postures adopted while performing professional duties have
contributed to increased incidence of a set of diseases unheard in past. Various
vein disease is one of them and is a direct result of sedentary life style,
adopted by modern youth today. The problem of varicose veins has become very
common during these days.
What are Varicose Veins
Swollen veins lying just beneath the skin are known as varicose veins.
These varicose veins are prominently visible and look as if a number of
earthworms or blue-colored spiders are lying under your skin.
Veins are the blood vessels, which collect impure blood from tissues and carry
it back to heart and then lung for purification. The job of vein in lower limbs
is difficult, as it has to push blood upwards from leg against gravity towards
heart. The veins have valves which open up & allow blood to flow only in one
direction, but when a person stands up these valves get closed to prevent blood
from going down towards feet. Thus valves of veins help maintaining
unidirectional flow of blood that is always towards the heart. In case valves
are absent or become defective, veins fail to control blood flow in one-way and
become dilated and swollen under the skin due to high backpressure.
Causes
Heredity: In most cases hereditary play an
important role and varicose veins run into families and generations.
Obesity.
Lack of exercise.
Abnormal pressure on veins during pregnancy.
Abnormal life style: prolonged standing and prolonged sitting with legs down.
Certain occupations and professions where a person is required to either
constantly standup for a long time or made to sit with legs hanging down for a
considerable time. Computer professionals, booking-clerks, KPO & BPO IT workers,
receptionists, security guards, traffic policemen, salesmen working at counters
in shops and departmental stores and persons doing desk jobs day in and day out
are the worst sufferers of varicose veins. Previous bone fracture (accidents),
deep vein thrombosis, incidence of clotting in the veins are some contributing
factors in development of varicose veins and varicose ulcer.
Why females are more prone to Varicose Veins
During pregnancy
due to lot of pressure on leg veins, veins become weak and varicose, some
hormones may also contribute in developing the condition. After delivery in most
cases varicosity disappears on its own and veins assume normal diameter and
shape. In some cases due to tumor of uterus/abdomen, varicose veins are likely
to develop.
What to do if you have Varicose Veins
Most people are quite ignorant of this disease of varicose veins and until the
condition gets complicated and turning into a varicose ulcer they don't take it
seriously. If any person is having blue colored visible spider like veins or
blue-colored long threads under skin and dark colored patches or ulcer in legs,
immediately stop smoking and consult a homoeopathic specialist and with the help
of homoeopathic medicines you may prevent yourself from complications and
painful surgical procedures. Treatment: CARDUUS MARIANUS-Q HAMAMELIS VIRGINIANA -Q Take ½ cup of water put 1 drop each of the above two medicines in it and drink it slowly. Take the dose
four times daily (morning, noon, evening and bed time).
